‘Ethereal Orb‘

Strong and sculptural, the ONA chandelier is formed of three circular bands of warm, bright light that join together to form a perfect sphere. Measuring over a meter in diameter, ONA is impressive in its scale but lightweight in its appearance thanks to its minimal, precise lines, simple geometry and smart use of LED technology.

Measuring 700 mm in diameter in comparison to the original’s 1030 mm, the new scaled-down orb brings ONA’s graceful precision and impactful form to smaller spaces while also presenting the opportunity to display multiple ONA chandeliers in cluster compositions.

LED technology and craftsmanship combine in SIM, a new series of wall lights developed specifically for use in the bathroom and hallway.
Clean and refined, a letter box-shaped 1000 mm brass base supports a clear and even panel of light that can sit flush with the wall, recessed or extended outwards to suit the space. Like the rest of KAIA’s collection, the SIM series is available in a number of new bespoke finishes including a rich and dark patinated brass expertly oxidised by a team of knowledgeable craftsman in a small workshop in England.

Sophie Dries choose to juxtapose to the classic blown glass and brass typical of Kaia chandeliers a more organic material: paper. Produced in Puglia, the paper selected is an evolution of the papier- mâché process and has a raw, textural quality to it that resembles stone. The rough and organic paper is in contrast with the smooth and transparent glass eggs and the rigorous and geometric lines of the brass structure. The way the paper appears to grow over the glass eggs brings to mind the way moss and fungi occasionally grow over walls and buildings. There is a precarious and somewhat imperfect balance in Sophie Dries chandelier between organic and geometric, natural and artificial suggesting the possibility of harmonious coexistence.

For Milan Design Week 2021, Cambi auction house and Mr.Lawrence design consultancy partnered up to present CTMP Design Auction, a project which celebrates the most influential voices of the contemporary collectible design scene. This collection sees Inner Glow’s grandeur distilled into a more compact form suitable for the contemporary home.The designers’ choice of paper is an evolution of the papier-mâché process and has a raw, textural quality that resembles stone. The glass is custom-made for Kaia by an artisan glassmaker, layered onto these mouth-blown glass eggs, the paper appears to ‘grow’ and take on a life of its own.
